I did not know Sally.  What I know is how beautiful she is, I know that she is an inspiration to numerous people and I know that so many people love her.  My friend Kelly Fillnow was her teammate and very close friend.  After reading about her for weeks I was honored to wear pink socks this past weekend at the Cooper River Bridge Run.  While running I thought about her extremely positive attitude.  I thought about her energy and passion for running, swimming and biking.  I looked up to the beautiful blue sky and thought of her.  I looked down at my pink socks and thought of her.  I do not win races.  I train to have fun with my friends and serve as a good role model for my children by staying healthy.  My goal was to beat my time last year and I tired very hard to do so.  That did not happen this year.  What did happen was I stayed positive and appreciated every second of my weekend in Charleston, SC.  I am extremely proud of the triathlon and running community around this area.  We help each other, we provide support and we are there for each other at all times.  The several text messages, emails and encouraging words all weekend proved that.  It was incredibly unfortunate what happened to Sally and she will be forever in the hearts of many including me – someone who never met her.
